Frequently Asked Questions

What are your operating hours?

Operating hours are from 6am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, with the exception of early release days and holiday closings. Please check back regularly for opening and closing updates.

What age range of children do you accept?

We accept the children the age of 6 months to 6 years of age. We also offer after school and summer programs that go up to the age of 12 years old.

What is the enrollment process?

To enroll your child, you will first need to set up a time for you to both tour and fill out paperwork at the center. If we have space for your child and your child’s application is accepted, you will have the choice of continuing with the process of enrollment in the same visit. You will be required to provide identification for both you and your child, you will need to correctly complete a center application, and you will need to select a start date and start working of obtaining the remainder of the files required by the center by the first 30 days.

How do you ensure the safety and security of the children?

We ensure the safety of all kids that attend our center by preparing our staff with an emergency preparedness procedure to thoroughly be able to take shelter or evacuate in a case of a hurricane, intruder, fire, and more. We also have a number of emergency exits available for each class room and keep most of the doors locked from entry but never exiting.

What qualifications do your staff members have?

Every staff member undergoes a variety of trainings to ensure up-to-date knowledge and practices to best educate and preserve the safety of the children.  Each classroom teacher has completed college level courses to obtain their Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.  

Do you have a structured curriculum or daily schedule?

Here at Another Beautiful Beginnings, we believe in hands-on learning and learning through play.  We utilize the Creative Curriculum to create interactive, child appropriate weekly lesson plans for each age group.

How do you handle discipline and behavior management?

Children learn best with natural and appropriate consequences.  Another Beautiful Beginnings DOES NOT condone physical or harsh discipline or behavior measures.  Rather, staff has been trained to provide appropriate consequences and to use child-appropriate techniques such as talking through the issue, removal from the situation, providing better solutions, and preventative measures.  

What are your fees and payment options?

Childcare fees are individually set based upon family need.   We accept private payment, CCSA scholarships and childcare vouchers.  Please let us know if you need more information on connecting with CCSA offices.  

What is your sick policy?

For the protection of all children, your child should be kept at home if he/she shows any of the following symptoms, a temperature, diarrhea or vomiting, a rash, nasal discharge, or discharge from eyes or ears. We cannot accept the children if any of the aforementioned symptoms are evident. The child cannot return for 24 hours after the child has been sent home from the center and free of symptoms.

Do you provide meals and snacks? Are they included in the fees?

We provide a daily breakfast, lunch, and PM snack approved by the CACFP - Food Program for childcare centers.  These meals are all included in the childcare fees. 

What is your policy on allergies and dietary restrictions?

Upon enrollment, families are asked to list all allergies and dietary restrictions.  Allergies are clearly posted in the kitchen and the child’s classroom.  

How do you handle nap times and rest periods?

Each child is offered a nap/rest period each day.  While some children may sleep, children are allowed to just rest quietly during that time. 

Do you have outdoor play areas? How often do children get outdoor time?

Yes.  Children go outside daily 1-2 times, weather permitting.  We ask all families to provide their child(ren) with weather appropriate clothing and shoes. 

What is your policy regarding the administration of medication?

If a child needs to take prescribed medication during childcare hours, all parents are required to fill out the “permission to administer medicine forms”. The information on this form has to be filled out completely and signed by the parent. Prescription medicine must show name of the child, prescription number, name of the doctor, that doctors phone number, and how many times a day the medicine should be given. We must have a complete permission form to administer the prescription medication. Please note that over-the-counter medication are never giving to a child at the center unless a doctor has provided written instructions for a dose to be given by the doctors orders, parents must sign a permission to administer medication form which is good for the length of time the medicine is to be given.

How do you communicate with parents about their child's daily activities and progress?

Teachers actively communicate with parents by giving a daily report administered either during pick up or drop off times.

What is your policy on holidays and closures?

Parents will be notified of the exact dates thru a yearly calendar given at time of enrollment as well by signs posted throughout the center.

How do you handle emergencies or accidents?

In an effort to keep your child safe, management staff participated in Emergency Preparedness and Response Training.  During your child’s enrollment, your child will be learning age appropriate emergency skills.   

 

With the safety of your child in mind, we would like to make you aware that Another Beautiful Beginnings have developed an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan. This detailed Plan involves our local agencies.  We are confident that we can do what it takes to protect all of the children in our care in the event that they must be evacuated in place (remain in a part of our facility until advised that it is safe to leave) or evacuated off-site to a safe area, away from our facility. 

 

An In-Place Evacuation could occur if: 

  1. A tornado or other weather-related emergency made it too dangerous to leave the safety of our facility; 

  1. There was a toxic chemical spill outside of the facility; 

  1. There were the threat of a violent incident 

  1. The facility was directed to shelter in place by local emergency personnel 

 

If children in our facility are to evacuate in place: 

  1. We are prepared to provide supervision, food water, and shelter 

  1. Do not attempt to pick up your child until it is safe to do so. 

  1. Children will not be released until local emergency officials assure us that it is safe to do so. 

  1. We will provide information as soon as possible, through phone calls 

 An Off-Site Evacuation could occur if: 

  1. A hurricane or other weather-related emergency made it too dangerous to stay in our facility; 

  1. There was a bomb threat; 

  1. There was imminent threat of safety I the area (e.g. flooding, terrorism);  

  1. The facility was directed to evacuate by local emergency personnel. 

 

If the children in our facility are to evacuate off-site: 

  1. Children will be safely transported to secure facility, designated by Emergency Management Personnel or our Emergency Plan. 

  1. Information will be provided to parents by: 

  • FM Radio FOXY DIAL #107 

  • Television Station WTVD cable channel 11 

  • Cell Phone calls 

  1. Children will be released to a parent, legal person. A photo ID of the adult will be required.                     

Our Near-By Evacuation Site is next to the center at E. D. Mickle Recreation Center located next door to the Center. 

Our Distant Evacuation Site is Mount Vernon Church on South Roxboro Road.
